We journey into its past, exploring its origins as an indigenous settlement, the influence of the Franciscans and the vital role of water. Through its water sources and traditions, Famara has been both witness to and part of Lanzarote’s cultural identity.

Romería Marinera
In the heart of Lanzarote, Caleta de Famara hosts one of its most cherished celebrations: the Romería Marinera, held in honour of the Sacred Heart of Mary.
What began in the early 20th century as modest gatherings around cooking fires is now a vibrant celebration that lights up the harbour. Participants honour their heritage in a unique procession by land and sea.
